RANDOLPH BAUDER

Adamson Engineering would like to Introduce to you Randolph Bauder

Randolph E. Bauder, P.E.

ASSOCIATE ENGINEER

Randolph (Randy) Bauder is a licensed professional engineer, ACTAR (accreditation commission for traffic accident reconstruction) certified, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an Associate of Science in Mathematics from Blinn College.

ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTIONIST

Randy specializes in accident reconstruction and vehicle data forensics. He has gained extensive knowledge and experience in investigating, inspecting, and reconstructing hundreds of traffic accident cases involving commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians. Randy is also proficient in performing crash reconstruction simulations and physics-based animations.

Through his training, he has earned  numerous certifications that qualify him to inspect and analyze commercial motor vehicle brake systems, imaging of and analyzing recorded data from event data recorders (EDRs) and various other sources including passenger vehicle airbag control modules (ACMs), infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) (i.e. radar and video-based systems), commercial vehicle data, global positioning system (GPS) and vehicle telematics, electronic driver logs, and surveillance and dash camera systems.

HUMAN FACTORS EXPERT

His training and experience extend to the field of human factors which gives him the ability to evaluate the events that occurred prior to the collision and how it could have been avoided. This includes the simulation and prediction of expected driver performance values (i.e. perception-response time) based on peer-reviewed research. Additionally, he has training and experience in the performance and evaluation of object recognition in both day and night environments that assists in the evaluation of avoidance scenarios.

FORENSIC IMAGE ANALYST

Randy has developed the ability to track moving objects/cameras in video. In many cases, this allows the subject vehicles’ accelerations, speeds, and positions to be measured directly from the videos. Additionally, through the application of camera matching and photogrammetry, physical evidence can be measured and evaluated. His training and experience allow him to apply classic time-tested and peer-reviewed techniques to the digital era of image analysis.

MORE ABOUT RANDY

Prior to joining our accident reconstruction team, Randy was employed by Texas Transportation Institute (TTI). During his time there, he built and calibrated falling weight deflectometers (FWDs) for TxDOT. Part of his duties included testing, maintaining, and repairing the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic subsystems within the FWDs.

Outside of his professional experience, Randy has always enjoyed working on cars, both modern and classic. His knowledge extends to engines and drivetrains, structural frames, steering and control systems, electrical systems, and automotive mechanics. This passion gives Randy real world experience both inside and out of the traffic reconstruction field.
